With the new year comes new adventures and Te Puia is embracing 2021 with the introduction of a new experience – Geyser By Night – Te Puia Light Trail, opening its doors to the public at night for the very first time.
Te Puia’s new tourist experience reveals Rotorua’s geothermal wonderland under night skies as part of a multi-sensory adventure that can not be replicated anywhere else in the world.
With your torch in hand, you’ll make your way through 3km of bush trail that will be lit up by special lighting to showcase some of the most significant landmarks in the geothermal valley.
An experienced guide helps navigate with love stories of the area, making it the perfect date night adventure for couples. The wide appeal of the experience also makes Geyser by Night – Te Puia Light Trail the ideal night-time outing for friends, siblings and even families with children aged 10 and over as long as everyone has a medium level of fitness.
Running 7-days a week with two departures every night, guests will visit Pōhutu as she rumbles in the darkness as well as Waikite Geyser, which hasn’t erupted since 1969 but was once the “crown jewel” of Te Whakarewarewa Valley.
The two-hour long adventure will also involve visitors being treated to a unique cooking experience that will see them enjoy a dessert prepared in a cooking pool and a hot chocolate served under the stars.
