Description As a child I was inspired to weave by watching my nan. I began my journey with New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute in 1975 as a guide, after 10 years I transitioned to the weaving school. Under the guidance and tutelage of Master weaver Emily Schuster, we spent many years teaching and demonstrating. Our role was promoting the Māori culture and the many different techniques and technologies of Māori weaving to our visitors.  I have travelled both nationally and internationally promoting our fibre arts.  In 2021 my role changed again from pouako (teacher) to Matanga Kaiwhatu (specialist weaver).  Over the years I have been inspired by and worked with many talented weavers.  I love experimenting with traditional and contemporary techniques to create new and exciting garments. Weaving is my passion.
